Tour FAQ

Valley of the Arabian Horse Farm & Wine Tasting Tour

If you don’t find the answer to your question on this list, feel free to either call Destination Equus at (303) 777-5263 or e-mail at info@DestinationEquus.com. We’ll return your call/email as soon as possible.

How much does the Tour cost?
Prior to December 31, 2006, the Early Registration Discount price is only $495 per person based on double occupancy ($650 per person if a single room is preferred). After January 1, 2007, the price is $595 per person based on double occupancy ($750 per person if a single room is preferred).

What does my Tour Fee cover?
The Tour Registration Fee covers all costs, including:

  • 2 nights lodging at the Santa Ynez Valley Marriot Hotel
  • Luxury charter bus transportation
  • Gourmet catered meals and appetizers
  • Farm stops and horse presentations
  • Wine tasting
  • Complimentary admission to “Champions of the Valley Evening Gala Presented by Evergreen Arabians”

How do I sign up for the Tour?
The easiest way is to Register Online. It is quick and easy, with helpful narration each of the four steps. You may also register over the phone by calling Destination Equus at (303) 777-5263.

How many people will be on the Tour?
The tour usually attracts around 100 horse enthusiasts from around the world, and retains a “Sold Out” status at 150 people.

What additional costs might be incurred that I should plan for?
Guests will plan for initial travel to and from Santa Ynez, CA, specifically the Santa Ynez Valley Marriot as it is the point in which the tour begins and concludes. This includes travel from the airport to the Santa Ynez Valley Marriott. All other tour expenses are covered by the registration fee.
You may wish to bring additional spending money for souvenirs at wineries, exclusive tour logo apparel and gifts, and photographs of you with famous horses you’ve met on the tour.
Bus driver tips are covered by Destination Equus. If you wish to tip your Lead Bus Coordinator, envelopes will be collected on the last day of the tour.

What do I need to do if I'm planning on arriving early or extending my stay in Santa Ynez?
It is impossible to soak up all of Santa Ynez in just three days. If you are planning on lengthening your stay beyond the days of the Tour while still staying at the Santa Ynez Valley Marriot, you will need to make a separate reservation with the hotel (This precludes tour excursions, which include the price of additional hotel nights). And although the Marriot and Destination Equus will do their best to accommodate rooming preferences, same rooms cannot be guaranteed.

What type of attire should I plan for?
In September, Santa Ynez is typically in the low 70 degrees to mid 80 degrees during the day, and can dip into the mid-fifty degrees at night. The tour is Casual Dress. Be sure to bring layers and comfortable shoes. You may store unwanted layers in storage compartments on the buses.

What airport should I fly into?
The closest airport to Santa Ynez is Santa Barbara (SBA), which is about 35 minutes away. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is 2 1/2 hours south. San Louis Obispo is 1 1/2 hours north.
